{"id":331,"date":"2019-10-26T16:09:46","date_gmt":"2019-10-26T16:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.enjoingood.org\/?p=49"},"modified":"2019-10-26T16:09:48","modified_gmt":"2019-10-26T16:09:48","slug":"misconceptions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/enjoingood.org\/en\/misconceptions","title":{"rendered":"Misconceptions"},"content":{"rendered":"<input class=\"fooboxshare_post_id\" type=\"hidden\" value=\"331\"\/>\n<p><strong>Examples of what some Muslims do versus what Islam says:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Misconception: Women are subjugated and have no rights.<ul><li>In the modern day, some \u201cMuslim\u201d countries treat their women negatively, but religiously, women have the same or more rights than men. &nbsp;In reality, the Prophet\u2019s first wife was a business owner, was the Prophet\u2019s boss, was older than her husband, and asked for his hand in marriage.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Misconception: Women have to wear that goofy headscarf.<ul><li>Most countries even up until the past century had the custom for women to cover their hair to emulate the Virgin Mary.&nbsp; In Islam, the Virgin Mary is one of four women promised paradise, and Muslim women who wear the headscarf are trying to emulate Mary\u2019s virtues.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Misconception: Islam condones violence and was spread by the sword.<ul><li>It is actually forbidden for Muslims to hurt others in any way.&nbsp; All they have the right to do is defend themselves against an aggressor.&nbsp; They can\u2019t hurt women, children, trees, animals and have to respect other places of worship.&nbsp; Any Muslim who does or says differently, isn\u2019t acting according to what the Quran teaches.&nbsp; Lastly, it is forbidden to force someone into Islam.&nbsp; A person\u2019s religion or lack therof is between them and God.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Examples of what some Muslims do versus what Islam says: Misconception: Women are subjugated and have no rights.
